Five employees of cryptocurrency exchange platforms have been detained in Moscow as part of an investigation into fraud involving stolen money being converted into cryptocurrency.
The investigation was initiated after a 73-year-old pensioner reported being defrauded of 13,300,000 rubles. During a search of the office, two additional couriers were apprehended with 3 million rubles.
Authorities are examining the role of these exchanges in facilitating the conversion of stolen funds.
