Russia Extends Crypto Mining Ban in Moscow Until 2032

The Russian government has officially extended its ban on crypto mining in Moscow until December 31, 2032, as per Resolution No. 936 signed by Prime Minister Mishustin on July 25.

This amendment modifies a previous decree set to expire in December 2024 and includes participation in mining pools, not just mining activities.

Russia currently accounts for approximately 13-17% of the global Bitcoin hash rate, suggesting that while this ban may not eliminate hash rate, it is likely to relocate it to other regions such as the US and Central Asia.
